Dermal fillers are a cosmetic option that can restore volume and smooth out lines and wrinkles on the face. They are made from natural materials, including hyaluronic acid, calcium hydroxylapatite, and poly-L-lactic acid. Dermal fillers are injected into areas of the face to create a more youthful and rejuvenated appearance.
At our medspa, we offer a variety of dermal fillers customized to meet each patient’s individual needs. Our experienced and licensed injectors are highly skilled in administering dermal filler injections, ensuring patients achieve natural-looking and beautiful results.
Dermal fillers can treat a range of cosmetic concerns, including deep lines and wrinkles, hollow cheeks, and thinning lips. They can also enhance facial contours and add volume to sagging areas
One of the main benefits of fillers is that they are a non-surgical treatment that can be completed in just a few minutes. No downtime is required after the treatment, so patients can return to their daily activities immediately. Additionally, dermal filler results typically last for several months to a year, making it a convenient and long-lasting solution for anti-aging.

What is a Lip Injection?
Lip injections are a non-surgical cosmetic procedure used to increase the fullness and volume, and alter the shape of your lips. Fillers usually contain a hyaluronic gel, and come in a variety of brands. Integrity Skin Aesthetics uses only sugar gel fillers composed of hyaluronic acid that can last up to one year. They are all safe and effective for lip augmentation when used in the right hands.
Uses of Hyaluronic Acid Fillers
Hyaluronic acid lip fillers are used to provide lip fullness, increase the volume of lips, and improve lip structure and volume. Those who have thin lips may wish to have lip fillers in order to improve the overall look, proportions, and silhouette of their face.
What are the benefits of Hyaluronic Acid Fillers?
The benefits of hyaluronic acid lip fillers include:
Gradual treatments: Treatments can be given over time, in small amounts, until the optimal desired outcome is achieved.
Control: Because the amount of filler injected can be carefully controlled, your injector can be extremely precise with how your lip volume is altered.
Imperfections dissolve: Any bumps or irregularities created by your lips’ movement can be dissolved without much effort.
Lasting results: While hyaluronic acid fillers are not permanent, they are likely to be long-lasting.
Minimal bruising: Compared to other dermal fillers, hyaluronic acid fillers result in minimal bruising.
Who is a Lip Injection Candidate?
Lip filler injections are for those who lack lip volume, want plumper lips, want to reshape their lips, smooth out fine lines on and around their lips and/or wish to improve their lip appearance without undergoing an invasive surgical procedure.
Benefits of Lip Injections
Because your lips are a significant focal point of your face, increasing their shape and volume can improve your face’s overall symmetry and proportion. Lip fillers can significantly change the overall look of your face, improving self-esteem and self-confidence, especially if you were previously self-conscious about your lips’ lack of volume and fullness.
Enhanced Appearance
Full, sexy lips will always be popular! With the advancements of lip injections, anyone can have a more sensuous shape to their lips that need no downtime. Some patients may want more subtle lip enhancements, more lip and face balance, or more youthful looking and less wrinkled lips.
Full control Over Lip Volume
The amount of injectables can be controlled, which means your injector has better control over how much volume is created.
Immediate Results
Post-procedure, you won’t have to wait to see your lip enhancement as the benefits are immediate. While lip injections are temporary, they remain fully in the lips for many months and usually need to be repeated every 6-12 months.

How are Lip Injections Performed?
The lip augmentation process involves a consultation discussing the optimal and idealized lip shape and contour that the patient desires. It is essential that the lip look natural after the injection and not “ducky” or protrusive. Once the soft tissue filler is chosen, the product is injected under the skin to increase the volume of your lips. Comfort is assured through the use of a high potency prescription numbing cream, and there is also local anesthesia in the actual filler gel, so it anesthetizes as it is injected.
How to Prepare for a Lip Injection
Refrain from utilizing blood thinners such as fish oils, ginko biloba, Aspirin, Aleve, Ibuprofen, and Advil for at least seven days before your appointment; this also includes alcohol. Drink plenty of water before your procedure, as it will improve your body’s ability to heal itself. If you have a history of cold sores, please notify us prior to your appointment as injections may trigger a flare-up. If you keep the treatment area very clean and well moisturized, your risk of infection and pain will be greatly minimized.
What to Expect After a Lip Injection
While swelling and redness may be present for the first 24 – 72 hours after your injection, the swelling is completely normal and will subside fully after one week. Do not massage your lips as it risks moving the filler around. Refrain from exercise for at least 24 hours post-procedure to not increase blood flow to your face.
Lip Injection Recovery & Timeline
1 hour: ice lips to decrease inflammation
24 hours: no exercising
7 days: no massaging your lips
7 days: swelling has fully subsided
Best Procedures Paired with Lip Injections
Botox and soft tissue dermal fillers to the cheeks, chin and facial areas go well with Lip injections.
LIP INJECTION FAQ
Can You Get Lip Fillers While Pregnant?
While many pregnant women continue to get fillers while they are pregnant, the use of injectables or fillers while pregnant has not been FDA-approved.
When Can I Eat or Drink After Having My Lips Filled?
You will have to wait until the numbing agent (lidocaine) in your lip fillers has worn off before you can comfortably eat and drink following your procedure. This generally takes a few hours. In addition, avoid eating or drinking any foods or drinks that are difficult to chew in the first 24 hours following your procedure, as this may compromise your procedure’s results.
How Painful is it to Get a Lip Injection?
As most fillers are blended with lidocaine, you barely feel a thing! There is a tiny initial prick, and then the lidocaine kicks in virtually instantly. At Integrity Skin Aesthetics, we apply a high potency prescription numbing cream prior to the lip injection to ensure our patients are very comfortable.
Will My Lips Be Swollen After the Treatment?
There may be some swelling and redness associated with dermal fillers, and it’s recommended to ice the treatment area for at least an hour following the procedure.
How Long Do Lip Injections Last?
Since the results of lip injections are never permanent, many choose to return for supplemental lip filler injections a year after treatment to sustain the volumized effects achieved through the initial lip augmentation.
Can I Have More Than 1 Syringe of Filler?
Based on the current state of your lips (thin or deflated) and how voluptuous you want them to be will dictate how many fillers to use. Most patients opt for 1-2 syringes of filler. One syringe has up to 1.0 cc of dermal filler, which can last anywhere between 10 to 18 months.
Those who wish to enhance their lip size significantly, opt for roughly one syringe each visit, progressively increasing the size of their lips over a few months. Others wish to receive multiple syringes in one visit.
Can Men Get Lip Injections?
Of course! In fact, there is a rise in the number of men who want lip injections to give them a ‘proud’ lower lip and a natural smirk.
Will my Lips Look Overdone?
The skill and experience of the injector, not the product injected is the most important factor in ensuring your lips look great, not done. HA sugar gel products can be injected into the upper and/or lower lip – usually both – to achieve a very natural and beautiful increase in the vertical height of the red lip from the center of the upper and lower lip right to the corner of the mouth. This increase in vertical height creates the natural and youthful proportion most patients are looking for but does not increase projection or protrusion of the lip, avoiding the “ducky” appearance.
What Happens to the Lips As We Age?
As part of the natural aging process, our lips and surrounding tissue change from their peak fullness in their 20’s. The volume of your lips will reduce, leaving you with a thinner, flatter appearance. You’ll also develop fine lines and wrinkles on and around your lips, and your cupid’s bow will become less defined. Other factors such as gravity, genetics and smoking can cause the corners of the mouth to turn down or droop, creating a worn, aged look. Soft tissue dermal filler injections in the lips can provide a very youthful and rejuvenated appearance to the lips.
